Climate change is one of the most critical issues facing society today on the global, national, state and local levels. Here in the SF Bay Area, the symptoms we have experienced are severe storms, flooding, wildfires, and drought.
The planning and regulatory approaches to address these symptoms cover a wide arena of topics and web of activity focused on climate change adaptation. Some of the familiar terms in discussion are global warming, GHG (SB32), sea level rise (SLR), flood protection, carbon sequestration, climate action plans, habitat restoration, sustainable and resilient communities, CEQA impacts, social equality, and environmental justice.
On Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 5:30-7:30 p.m., the WIE Education Committee has assembled a panel of agency experts to discuss their respective efforts on climate change adaptation in the Bay Area, bring WIE members up to date and stimulate discussion.
