In-Person Event: An Evening with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council

Presented by the WIE Portland Professional Development Committee & the Columbia Slough Watershed Council

Please join us for an evening with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council, where we will learn about the Columbia Slough watershed, slough ecology, and environmental history. The presentations will be followed by a group sunset paddle on the peaceful Columbia Slough.

A few things to note for the event:

  • Make sure to bring shoes and clothes you are okay with getting a little wet. Also, the weather cools off quickly at night this time of year. Make sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.

  • Parking at Whitaker Ponds is limited. If feasible please bike, carpool, or use public transportation. Overflow parking is graciously offered by Apollo Chemical, located at 6647 NE 47th Ave.

  • The Columbia Slough Watershed Council is a non-profit organization and is hosting us at no cost. Please consider a donation to the Slough Council, if you can.

  • A box dinner will be provided during the presentations courtesy of Women in Environment.

  • Participants can bring their own SUP/kayak/canoe or reserve a seat in one of the group bimarans (limited to 25 participants in the group bimarans). Don’t know what a bimaran is? Come and find out!

WIE's mission is to further professional development and opportunities for women in the environmental field.

WIE fosters relationships, mutual respect, and diversity among environmental professionals through networking, education, and mentoring.

Thank you to all of our generous 2023 sponsors for making these events possible!
