Puget Sound Chapter

The Puget Sound Chapter of WIE was formally established in 2023 though we’ve been present and active here for years. We continue to facilitate opportunities to support women in the environmental field through mentoring with experienced professionals, networking across industries and skillsets, and professional development events covering a spectrum of topics.

We welcome people wishing to get more involved with WIE through one of our events or by jumping in to help us plan the next one or help us build our community across Puget Sound.

Meet our Board of Directors

  • Tasya Gray

    PRESIDENT

Tasya is a Principal Geologist with Dalton, Olmsted & Fuglevand (DOF) in Seattle. She has over 20 years’ experience as an environmental consultant combining technical and policy based expertise. With a BS in Geology and an MPA in Environmental Policy, her practice focuses on helping clients balance contaminated site investigation, cleanup, and regulatory compliance. She is a member of the Board of Directors within her firm and has served on multiple volunteer boards outside of work as well. At WIE she has participated as a mentor and as part of the networking committee.

The most valuable part of WIE for Tasya isn’t the one thing – it is the rollup of one place to go where I have the opportunity to meet both people that share commonalities in what working in this field is like as a woman while also getting to meet those at different stages of their career or experiencing the work world differently than I do. This cross-cut of perspectives, often distinctly different than what I might encounter on a particular work day, inspires me about where this field will go and what it might look like in the future beyond my time.

  • Chris Kimmel

    VICE PRESIDENT

Chris is the current Vice President of the Puget Sound Chapter and has been involved in WIE through the mentoring program for 6 years. She finds being involved in WIE rewarding as a way to form personal relationships with others working in similar industries with similar interest. Fun fact about Chris, she went to grade school so small, she had only 5 classmates.

  • Katy Gross

    TREASURER

Katy has been attending WIE events for 8 years and has been officially involved in the organization since 2020. She has participated on the networking committee, the budget committee, and most recently is serving as the Treasurer for WIE Puget Sound. Katy is an environmental engineer at Anchor QEA and provides design and construction management services for sediment cleanup projects in the Pacific Northwest.

Katy’s most memorable WIE event was last year’s Puget Sound networking event at Bellevue Botanical gardens. It was the first major event following the pandemic and it was so great to see so many folks in person, many of whom she had only met virtually.

  • Meilani Lanier-Kamaha’o

    SECRETARY

My love of mountains and landscapes led me to study geology and my love of people led me to WIE. I have dual bachelor’s degrees in Geology and American Studies from Occidental College and a master’s degree in Geological Sciences from Central Washington University. I am a geologist with Aspect Consulting, LLC in Seattle and started my consulting career in southern California with Amec. My practice focuses on supporting clients through site investigation and cleanup process. My pronouns are she/her; I am cis-gender, able bodied, of Asian pacific islander and Caucasian heritage; I am a mother and gardener, and so much more.

What I value most about WIE are the opportunities to build connections across environmental sectors, the mentorship program, and how the organization is a living model of a group, coming together, to create space. My hope is that WIE continues to reflect, evolve, and expand, so that more people can experience the meaningful relationship and professional role modeling that I have encountered through and with this org.
